Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I am running the London Marathon in 2009. Normally, I just do these races for the enjoyment of running, and let others raise money for their worthwhile causes. However, this time I have a reason to try and get sponsorship.
I will be at the start line in a bright yellow running vest, raising money for St Gemma's hospice. If you want to know why, then read on, otherwise, get to the part where you put your card details in

As some of you may know, my Dad sadly passed away on March 1st at the age of 54, following a hard fought battle with lung cancer. This was exceptionally cruel for someone who never even smoked. As a nurse he spent his life caring for others.
My parents were very proud and private people and throughout, he was cared for by my Mum who did an excellent job. He wanted to die in peace at home, but sadly in the final week, the pain was too great and he was admitted to St Gemma's hospice.
My parents received good support from the staff, and my Dad made an impression on them in the short time he was there. For those who never knew him, suffice to say that I am a pretty good copy of him (both the good and bad bits!).
He fought all the way to the end(perhaps a little too hard) and I was glad we were able to be there to see him die in as dignified fashion a possible.
He would hate anything sentimental being written about him, so all I will say is:
"Miss you lots and hope I can be as good a Dad to my children"
In his words-"you might have been a git, but you were our git!!"

The boring financial part.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St. Gemma's Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
