My story

Note: The event listed above is actually wrong at should read BUPA 10000 for 25th May, not October.

First and foremost a huge thank you to all for your support in my fundraising efforts. I am delighted to say that I not only made it round but my scrawny legs turned out a time of 51 mins and 35 seconds which is not bad given the 2 bottles of Chianti I had the night before in preparation. There were 13 of us in the team and we have collectively raised circa £7,000 in total which after we pay the race fees will net the charity over £5,000.

Our aim is to raise money to create a feeding programme for Sasenyi Primary school in the Rukinga Sanctuary on the outskirts of Tsavo National Park, Kenya. Since the post election troubles in Kenya there has been an acute shortage of maize. Currently the situation is very bleak for children at the school. They have one small meal at night in their homes. The next morning they have a cup of water before walking to school. For some of them this can be up to 2 hours. At school they have nothing all day, not even water, before returning home again in the evening. Our programme would aim to feed the 600 pupils at the primary school, aged roughly from 7 - 15, and 200 under 7's from the pre primary school.

Camps International Trust has a team of 15 runners. The minimum sponsorship we are looking for is £350. This would feed all 800 children for half of the school year. £700 from every runner would provide a meal for every child every day they attend school for a whole year.

Each kilometre we run will add another week to our feeding programme and I hope you will find the time and inspiration to make a donation.Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Camps International Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

In addition to using this page to raise funds I can also send UK residents a gift aid donation form which enables you to wire money direct to the charity account. The amount raised on this page just shows the donations made online and a big thanks to everyone who is sending me pledges direct daily.

Additional amounts raised so far are: Nick Finegold £1000, Sam & Catarina EUR0100, Torben Rune £120, Mike & Jane Eatough £50, Robster £20 so huge thanks and looking good!
