My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

This October I trekked the Inca Trail in Peru with my good mate and neighbour Mark along with 14 other volunteers to raise funds for the Meningitis Trust. It was tough going and took 5 days of climbing through rainforest and jungle to finally reach the lost city of Machu Picchu. Despite the ache's, pains and insect bites It was an amazing experience and something I will never forget. And you can see some of the photos I took during the trek by going to -

The reason I have chosen the Meningitis Trust is because of Marks son Dan.

He was born a perfect baby 12 years ago. But 6 weeks later he contracted Meningitis leaving him severely brain damaged and profoundly deaf.

This was a nightmare for all of  them and any family would be rocked by such a tragic event but Dan and his family are amazing.

They never complain and cherish Dan with so much love, and he is suprising everybody with his constant development.

Dan goes to school every day and loves it.

He was never expected to walk, but about 12 months ago took his first un-aided steps.

No one knows what else Dan will be able to acheive but with the support of the Meningitis Trust Dan's development and quality of life is constantly improving.

Please help this fantastic charity to continue helping Dan and other familys like his by donating as much as you can afford.

Here is a few examples of what you donations could help to fund :-

£15 can fund the Meningitis Trust freephone nurse-led help line for a hour.

£25 pays for 1000 symptom cards that can save a life by early identification of Meningitis.

£50 pays for a specialist physiotherapist to help children like Dan.

£300 pays for specialist leg splints similar to the ones Dan used to help him to learn to walk.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Meningitis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
