NOTTINGHAM ARTS THEATRE
DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY
£20,000 Studio Theatre Appeal
As part of the sixtieth anniversary season, Nottingham Arts Theatre is proposing to convert its large rehearsal space into a fifty seat studio theatre. The studio theatre will, in the main, be dedicated to use by Nottingham Arts Theatre’s Youth Theatre, but will also be available for hire providing Nottingham with a fringe theatre venue for the staging of minority interest and experimental theatre.
Fundraising
The cost of the conversion including sound proofing, new stage lighting and sound equipment, seating, refurbishment of the toilets and the creation of dressing room space will be £20,000 and fundraising has already started.
So far these include:
£ 500 - from the 60's Party Night on 31st May
£1055 - from collections during Charleston Follies
£3000 - anonymous charitable donation
Past and Future
In its sixtieth anniversary year it is important that, as well as celebrating the past, NAT looks to the future. A studio theatre dedicated to its youth group will be a fitting legacy to mark the year and will complement the work done by volunteers in 1948, who converted the old Baptist chapel on George Street into the Arts Theatre that exists today.
