I am a Trustee of Childhealth Advocacy International which is a small international charity that provides health care to mothers and their babies in developing countries.  The charity is particularly focussed on teaching local doctors, nurses and other health care staff medical skills that will help them to save the lives of mothers and babies in a medical emergency or after an accident.  We work mainly in sub-Saharan Africa and in Pakistan and our aim is to grow local skills and provide communities with hospital facilities so that the locally trained doctors and nurses can make a big difference to the lives of hugely disadvantaged children and their mothers.

I hope that you will agree that this is a great cause - and to raise funds for it, I am planning to run my first race for almost 20 years!!  5k sounds quite modest - but I do hope you will sponsor me generously.
