These days, we occasionally hear about ordinary people showing extraordinary courage against great odds. That's our friend Sammy. Sammy has seen more than her fair share of hospitals in recent years and none have made an impression like the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital .The hospital was built pre-war and has not been updated since yet all the staff create such an amazing atmosphere by going above and beyond for each patient. We believe they helped save Sammy’s life more than once and contributing towards this fantastic project will build and improve this hospital enabling them to go on and save more lives!

We are raising money for the RNOH where Sammy’s cancer has been diagnosed. The money raised will fund the building of a brand new rehabilitation centre.

Everyone has been incredibly generous so far and below is  letter from the RNOH on how the funds are being used.

Dear Sammy

I have recently been informed about the series of fundraising events that you and your friends have organised in aid of the RNOH: the sponsored run and family day out at Sunbury Cricket Club, the long distnace runs that your friends Sammy and Ben took part in, and the triathalon challenge organised by your work colleagues. I understand from Rosie Stolarski that the sponsorship money generated by these events totals more than £50,000. This is an absolutely incredible achievement - warmest thanks on behalf of everyone at the hospital.

As you know the RNOH is now entering a new and exciting era. Our exsisting hospital will be replaced with a new NHS orthopaedic hospital, which will be fully operational by 2016. We have for the first time a real opportunity to install facilities and equipment which befit the world-class service we provide. Your donation to the RNOH will help give our staff exactly what they need when treating patients at our new in-patient rehabilitation gym.

The therapy gym will be used by the majority of patients who undergo complex surgery. Patients from services including joint reconstruction, peripheral nerve injury, sarcoma, spinal surgery and the amputee unit benefit from attending the gym.

In the gym patients can focus on their rehabilitation without distractions which may occur on the ward. An effective rehabilitation programme is devised for each patient that enables optimal functional improvement. The equipment in the gym can be used to challenge patients with the use of weights, parallel bars, mirrors, balance performance monitors, gym balls, treadmill and standing hoists. Patients benefit hugely from attending the therapy gym.

Thank you once again - your donation will help us transform lives.

Yours sincerely

Professor Anthony Goldstone CBE
