About The Surrey Care Trust
We nurture the abilities of challenging or vulnerable young people who face a tough future because they have achieved little in mainstream schooling.
We inspire adults with limited skills to take up learning, organise free training courses tailored to local needs in neighbourhood venues and offer practical support in finding employment.
We run a community canal boat, Swingbridge, as a base for volunteers and offenders to carry out environmental work and develop their skills.
We provide trips on the Swingbridge boat to people who are frail or elderly, coping with illness or disability, or have other special needs.
And we give Crisis Grants to people in urgent need in towns and villages in every part of Surrey.
Our history
The Surrey Care Trust was set up in 1982 to provide Crisis Grants to people facing great hardship and we continue to offer this helping hand to families and individuals in towns and villages across Surrey.
But that is just the start of what we do.
Today, much of our work is in education and training, inspiring young people and adults with limited skills and opportunities to take up learning and transform their lives.
