The Surrey Sports Fund helps and encourages people to participate in sport who would not otherwise have the opportunity. Grants are awarded from the fund to to help people to access and enjoy sport who are prevented due to:
A mental or physical disability - for example disabled children who reuqire special equipment to enable them to play a sport
Social or economic deprivation - for example funding the training of volunteers on a housing estate to become sports coaches for young people.
The Fund has already helped support some fantastic projects including Woking Minders Football Club which is the first Mental Health Football Club to be registered with the Surrey FA and compete in the Postive Mental Attitude League. It has also supported Queen Mary Sailability to install safety improvements on sailing boats to enable children and adults with severe learning disabilities to learn to sail.
