My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

This will be my first attempt at a Marathon.  St John Ambulance is a charity very close to my heart.  My father has been a member of St John since he was eleven years old (Some 50 plus years, he'll hate me for that).  I have always been involved with St John in some way or another having joined myself as a Cadet at the age of eleven (some 20 something years).  I am now a Youth Leader for St John giving my own time freely to help train 10 - 18 year olds first aid and the Grand Prior Award scheme which was introduced before the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.  St John is a charity that would not be able to attend events such as the Marathon, football matches or local garden fetes with out our help.  Please, please dig deep and help support such a caring charity.

Just one month to go before I run the marathon.  Its now March 10th and I'm getting very nervous.  Today I received my running number which is 47831.  Now I know its really happening.  My training was going well until I developed a bad chest last weekend.  Still been running but not quite to my best.  I ran a 10k fun run yesterday in one hour, I was hoping to complete it in 55 minutes.  On Sunday 16th March I will be running Stafford Half Marathon.  Wish me luck.  I think I might need it.

I have managed to get sponsorship from Arco.  A company who supply PPE equipment to companies all over the country.  I would like to say a Big THANK YOU to Arco for all their help.  For more information please visit www.arco.co.uk for all the equipment they can provide.

Just two short weeks until the big day.  Very very nervous now.  I think I've recovered from my chest infection at long last.  Not good timing really.  I managed to run the Stafford Half Marathon in 2 hours 13 minutes.  A personal best!!!!  My previous best time was 2 hours 35 minutes.  The training has worked somewhere.  Strange as it didn't seem that fast at the time.  Now Its Your Turn!!!!  Get your credit cards out and help me to help you and your family.

I DID IT!!!   I FINISHED THE LONDON MARATHON 2008 IN 5 HOURS AND 58 MINUTES.  NOT THE QUICKEST OF TIMES.  BUT I DID IT!!!!  A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPORTED ME AND THANK YOU TO ANYONE THAT IS ABOUT TO.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St John Ambulance will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
