About Sustrans

Sustrans was created more than 25 years ago when a group of like minded people got together to try and improve conditions for cyclists in Bristol.

From these humble beginnings, Sustrans has developed into a unique environmental charity working on practical sustainable transport projects to encourage people to walk, cycle and use public transport with the aim of reducing motor traffic and its adverse effects.

Sustrans brings together many partner organisations to work as a catalyst for change. Through its work it demonstrates to government and decision-makers that there are transport alternatives available.

Sustrans helps to safeguard the environment, creates more people centred community space, improves the health of people of all ages and helps with regeneration, particularly in urban areas.
