As Chairperson of Borreliosis & Associated Diseases Awareness UK (BADA-UK), I would like to say how grateful we are to David Brooks for choosing our charity to raise funds for. As a self-funded organisation, run entirely by volunteers, it can be hard to access the funds we need for projects and just the day-to-day survival of the charity. We wish David all the best in his training and on the day itself.
Wendy Fox - Chairperson BADA-UKDavid Brooks:
"When I'm not working as a slater and plasterer, I spend my time enjoying the countryside and I'm involved in country sports. It's through these activities that I first became aware of the risks associated with tick bites. I was really surprised at how harmful they can be and shocked at just how many diseases ticks in the UK can carry.
Cases of Borreliosis (also known as Lyme disease) have risen sharply over the last few years and because there is currently no vaccine to defend against it, awareness is the best and only defence.I really want to support the work of BADA-UK because I feel it is important that people know how to protect themselves against tick bites. This charity brings vital information to the public through their road shows and this is why I'm raising funds by taking part in the British Gas Great Scottish Swim, so they can continue to do so.
I'll do the swimming. All you need to do is donate whatever you are able to. Please support this great cause!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
