Running in the middle of the Sahara Desert along 230km in 6days, carrying everything needed to compete the race on our back...
Marathon des Sables, also known as the Sahara Marathon, is said to be the toughest foot race on the planet Earth and that is the race that I am going to participate in the coming April.
Why am I taking part in this? It is difficult to answer in words, as it has been something that I always dreamed of doing. I want to see and feel the planet we live in. The desert is one of the astonishing creations of nature, and I have always been interested visiting there. From my experience, I believe that in order to experience the greatness of nature, the best way is to travel through it by owns feet with own support.
Above all, the simplest reason would be to achieve a goal that I set myself. Everyone has a dream. Somethings are easier to achieve than others. Many people might give up their dreams; some may live up to create their dreams. What I believe is if people try hard you will be able to achieve your goal. By training and preparing hard for the race, I would like to prove myself and others that if you try your best, you can achieve what you set yourself to do.
At the same time, I have always been interested in raising money for charity and had a willingness to contribute and help their activities. For this race I have decided to take part and run on behalf of the Yorkshire Cancer Research.
One of the four people is said to get a cancer. It can happen to me or others that I know, or that you know. And there is still a great battle going on to find out the cause and cure for cancer. So I would like to take this opportunity to raise funds to help activities taken by the Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Yorkshire Cancer Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please help and sponsor me now! Any little donation will be grateful, for both Yorkshire Cancer Research and me!
Many thanks for your support,
"Never give up until and even after your dreams come true..."
