Having hung up my running shoes for the last decade, the lure of a finishing post beside the Grand Canal was just too much. I am not expecting a glamorous finale and I need a lot more motivation than visions of San Marco to get me through the 26 odd miles... Thus I am donning my trainers to raise money for the vital work undertaken by Venice in Peril.
A world without Venice would be a sadder place. Few people realise that without support Venice will be largely uninhabitable by the end of the 21st century.
