About our charity : Crimestoppers Crimestoppers
Crimestoppers is the independent crime-fighting charity. We help to arrest 17 criminals every day and one murderer every 5 days. Crimestoppers runs the anonymous phone number, 0800 555 111, that people can call to pass on information about crime. We also have an anonymous online ‘Giving Information’ form that people can fill-out to pass on information. Some people fear the consequences of going to the police when they know about crime. Crimestoppers is there for them. Because the phone number is anonymous, callers are not asked for any personal information and calls cannot be traced. The 0800 555 111 phone number has been helping to find criminals and solve crimes for more than 20 years. We’ve received more than 1million phone calls with useful information about crime. It’s a system that works for everyone – except criminals. Crimestoppers works. Every day around 20 people are arrested and charged as a result of calls to Crimestoppers. With your support, we can continue fighting to make our society a safer place to live.

Our personal message:

Go on: amuse yourself at my expense. Unlikely as it may seem, I've signed up for the Westminster Challenge: a 400km trek across the Arctic wilderness, in temperatures as low as -40C, by husky dog sled. Just to make it more challenging, I'm going with a cross-party team of MPs, so I may well end up battling their analyses of macro-economic policy as well as the elements. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the money will go to the Children's Society, Cancer Research and Crimestoppers - all excellent causes - and if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Thanks in advance for your support, and if you need any more incentive, bear in mind you'll be able to follow my progress on my Guardian blog when we set off in February. Just think how forlorn I'll look traipsing across the tundra, and boost my spirits by signing up below. Thanks in advance, Tania
