Hi guys. Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Although I"ve completed the challenge, this page will remain open for a while, until we hit the target.

I'm Tara, an actress and comedian. If you don't know me - here's my website: www.taraflynn.ie

On November 1, ran the ING New York City Marathon in 4 hours and 44 minutes - even faster than I'd hoped.
I did it because I'm determined to raise £5,000
for the Alzheimer's Society. That amount could support a researcher for one year with the chemicals and equipment they need to further understand the causes of dementia.
If you've ever known anyone with Alzheimer's, or anyone who's cared for someone with dementia, you'll know how important this cause is.

I know everyone's strapped for cash right now, and some people have been incredibly generous here, but don't let that daunt you. Even 50p would be great. Truly.

To those who choose not to leave an email address so I can thank you personally, a special thanks. Thanks also to those who gave me their loose change at stand-up gigs. I know you chose to forego a precious pint and I really appreciate it.

The marathon was as tough, challenging, inspiring, heart-breaking and uplifting as I'd heard. It really is indescribable, but so worth it for the money you've helped me to raise for the Alzheimer's Society.
I was shattered when this pic was taken; hobbly, chafey and covered in salt, but it was worth every second.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. The Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Dementia is one of the main causes of disability in later life (ahead of cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke).
* 1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia.
* Over 700,000 people in the UK have dementia - this figure will rise to over 1m by 2025.
* Dementia is not a natural part of ageing - it is caused by diseases of the brain that rob people of their lives.

The Alzheimer's Society provides information and support for sufferers and their carers - funds research into cause, care, cure and prevention of dementia - provides learning resources and training - campaigns for improved health and social care - seeks to improve public understanding and awareness of dementia
