If it weren't for the skill and dedication of the staff at King's, my 4-year old daughter, Tara Huckle, would not be alive today. A scan on the 6th of August 2009 showed that she was suffering from a tennis ball sized tumour that was preventing her draining brain fluid properly and putting her in grave danger. As a result, she was rushed to King's needing a 12 hour operation to save her life.
Unfortunately, just before Christmas 2011 the tumour started to grow again and Tara needed a second operation. The good news is that the surgery went really well again and Tara is back to her usual stubborn self.
So I have reasons to treasure the skill and dedication of the staff at King's. And my way of saying, "thank-you!" is to raise money for the hospital. In 2010 I raised over £3000 by completing one of the iconic cycle challenges in the UK - Lands End to John O'Groats. This time I am aiming to complete an even greater feat by cycling from London to Nice , passing through The Alps en-route. Oh gawd....
All the money raised here will be going directly to King's. I am also doing a series of events in order to raise money to cover the trip costs. On Saturday 3rd March I will be spending most of the day on a stationary bike on George Street, Hove. If you'd like to contribute there, then please come down (I will be glad of the support). Otherwise, you can email me on dad@tarastale.org.
