The summer of running is well under way. We have just knackered ourselves running the Chiltern Chase and the Runnymede Relay with guest stars Jenny Warwick & Jon Key and are at present looking (not too hard) for our next challenge. ;-)
We are running in aid of Vila Maninga which is a small amazing community in rural Mozambique supporting and working with poor and vulnerable children and adults. The small charity that Gig runs here in the UK entirely supports Vila Maninga's survival and we are aiming to raise funds to build homes for the elderly at the project. There are regularly elderly people turning up at the project who are homeless and have no-one to care for them. At present the project can't always help. So it is in the process of building more homes, costing £16,000 in total. We are also hoping to raise funds to go towards looking after the orphans that we care for at VM. See left for a movie clip of Sabia (an orphan at VM) describing his dream to be a mechanic. Anyone who works for the charity here in the UK, including Gig, does so voluntarily so over 99% of all donations goes direct to the work in Mozambique. It is a unique and amazing grassroots project in the middle of rural Mozambique.
