Story

The eight fabulous members of team Peaky Blunders took on the Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend for Raise, the West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity – and what a feat they achieved!

The team covered 23 miles and over 3,000 metres on one of the hottest days in Wales to help fund a new interventional radiology (IR) suite at West Herts so that patients can be treated locally and recover in comfort. They climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell (in the dark) and Snowdon.

The team have smashed their initial target of £10,000 and the team are still fundraising and hoping to reach the £15,000 mark!

Well done Peaky Blunders!

Eight adventurous members of #TeamWestHerts are coming together to form 'Team Peaky Blunders'. This energetic team are going to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in just 24 hours.

Peaky Blunders will be climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell (in the dark!) and Snowdon. The team will cover 23 miles and climb up (and down!) 3064 meters.

Every penny donated will help to support an exciting new interventional radiology (IR) facility at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Interventional radiology is a minimally invasive procedure, performed by highly skilled doctors, to diagnose and treat various diseases. The hospital has a small IR team that shares its space and equipment with other services. This can mean that to be able to receive IR procedures patients may need to be treated further away from home or have their procedure carried out in traditional, more invasive ways.

The new provision will also include a specialist paediatric facility which will enable children and their families to receive specialist support closer to home in west Hertfordshire.

The charity aims to fund a tailor-made IR suite so that patients can be treated locally and recover in comfort.
