Welcome to the Team Buzz Giro D'Italia fundraising page.
In memory of David Styles, James Paterson, and Clare Dee-Shapland.
Any donations will be a huge motivation to the team on this massive challenge.

What are we up to now then?

Sylvia, Ian, Nick, Keith, James Rankin and Amanda are cycling 1000 miles, from Sicily to Milan from the 11th September. We aim to complete this ride in 12 days, cycling an average of 85miles a day, and climbing the height of two Mount Everests in the process. We're doing this to raise money and awareness for Cardiac Risk in the Young, a Charity which supports people effected by Sudden Adult Death.
At particular risk of Sudden Death are elite athletes, and because of this the charity funds the CRY Centre for Sports Cardiology at the Olympic Medical Centre in. It also organises mobile screening events, and berevement support for families. More information about CRY is available on its website www.c-r-y.org.uk

Who are team buzz?

In 2006 Mark, Nick and Keith established the phenomenon that was Team Buzz. Cycling through France, and raising money for C-R-Y in memory of Clare Dee-Shapland, Marks sister, who had died suddenly the year before.

Following the phenomenal success of Team Buzz Tour de France, there was a lot of talk about doing it again, this time in Italy. No one was ever really sure why Italy was chosen but when we found out that Italy have implemented a screening process for all young athletes which has effectively erradicated Sudden Adult Death, it seemed like a fitting location.

In 2007, Team Buzz happened across James Rankin. I'm going to suggest a party or a bar was a likely location for this. James heard the boys talking about Team Buzz, and CRY, and having just completed a half marathon with chum Amanda raising money for CRY hooked Amanda up with the team. Amanda had lost her brother, James Paterson to Sudden Adult Death in 2002, and was keen to join in the challenge. Realising that there was just too much buzz to not get on with the buzz, James Rankin then joined the team as well.

Meanwhile, Mark's circumstances changed in a very delightful turn of events which left him partnered up and living in Amsterdam, and unfortunately unable to cycle as a consequence, but with his blessing and fundraising skills, the team carried on. Team Buzz then popped a little note on the CRY website to tell people about what they were up to.
Meanwhile, Sylvia and Ian were cycling in France this summer when they recieved the unhappy news that Ians brother in law, David Styles had died suddenly and unexpectedly. Directed to the CRY website by David's doctor, they stumbled across the Team Buzz, were taken by the notion and decided to jump aboard.

We have a website at www.teambuzz.co.uk where you can find out anything else you might want to know about us.
