Story
In October 2012, Marie received the devastating news that she had pancreatic cancer, having run a half marathon just two weeks previously!!
Approximately 23 people per day are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK. The survival statistics are amongst the worst for all cancers, and have not improved in over 40 years. Only 4% of those diagnosed will survive longer than 5 years.
Marie was fortunate. Her diagnosis was made early, and she underwent a major operation in the Churchill Hospital, Oxford, in November 2012. She began a six-month course of chemotherapy in January 2013, which finished in June. She is currently feeling really well!!
As a family, we want to do everything we can to support research into the causes of pancreatic cancer and to improve the chances of survival for those who are diagnosed.
Marie is a veteran of running marathons, having ran Edinburgh in 2011 and Paris in 2012, as well as many many half marathons over the years! Teresa is new to running, but did complete the Birmingham Black Country half marathon in July 2013 raising £600 for Pan Can UK.
We are very excited and honoured to be running the London Marathon in April 2014 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, the charity fighting pancreatic cancer on all fronts.
Thank you for visiting our page. We will keep you updated with our training and progress between now and the big day! Please do support us in the various fundraising events we are planning!!
Many thanks,
