Team Daisy Kenya is preparing for the Toronto Marathon on Sunday 18th
October, to support Daisy's Eye Cancer Fund.
Our team includes doctors who care for children with retinoblastoma,
researchers, members of our Executive Board and world champion athletes from
Kenya.
Retinoblastoma
is a highly curable eye cancer affecting babies and young children that kills
over 7,000 children each year due to late diagnosis and poor access to care in
developing countries. Most of these
deaths can be prevented by increasing awareness and rapid access to existing
medical care. Through
Rati's Challenge,
Daisy's
Eye Cancer Fund is working with a dedicated team in Kenya to develop a
national retinoblastoma strategy that will achieve timely and accurate
diagnosis and treatment; family support and collaborative care;
improved
survival and quality of life; and sustainable change for Kenya’s children. This strategy will become a model for use in
resource limited settings around the world. Please see the photo slide show and video for more information.
Please
sponsor our team and help turn our small steps into great strides towards
achieving the DECF vision:
the end of avoidable death, blindness and
unnecessary suffering from childhood eye cancer. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast
and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell
them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money
directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible
donation by a
UK
taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, while
saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
