Story

(Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online!)

This summer we have set out to complete 3 different challenges within two months:

------------------------------------------------------
(COMPLETED!)
A ski ascent of Mount Elbrus (the tallest peak in Europe)
------------------------------------------------------
Mount Elbrus is located in south east Russia and stands 18,510 feet above sea level. We went there last year but had to turn back at 16,550 feet on our summit attempt because of bad weather. This year we are taking a slightly harder route and will use skis/snow shoes for the crossing of a crevasse field below base camp. We leave for Russia on the 17 June and will be back 1 July. We will try to keep the news section of the web site updated with our progress while we are away. For more information see http://www.teamhyperactive.com/elbrus2005/index_eng.php ------------------------------------------------------ (COMPLETED!) Sea kayaking - 100 nautical miles in 48 hours ------------------------------------------------------ This is a 48 hour 100 NM (~116 miles) non-stop kayaking trip from the small fishing village Grebbestad down south to Gothenburg on the West coast of Sweden. To get an idea of the distance it is the equivalent of paddling from Dover to Calais and back...~3 times. The main challenges facing us on this trip will be the exposure to the open sea of Skaggerak and Kattegat and the sleep deprivation combined with physical exhaustion. This event takes place 28-30 July. For more information see http://www.teamhyperactive.com/kayaking2005/index_eng.php ------------------------------------------------------ (COMPLETED!) The Dodentocht march in Belgium - 100 km in 24 hours ------------------------------------------------------ This is a 24 hour 100 km (~63 miles) non-stop walk starting and finishing in the town of Bornem in Belgium. The distance is the equivalent of walking from London to Cambridge. This event takes place 12-13 August. For more information see http://www.teamhyperactive.com/dodentocht2005/index_eng.php ------------------------------------------------------ Since all three events are done independently (i.e. no dedicated charity via an event organiser) we have decided to raise money for the British Red Cross. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: British Red Cross will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you! So please sponsor us now! Many thanks for your support.
