We are doing a 5K run on 6 September (possibly a bit of walking too!) to raise money for Christopher Place Speech Language & Hearing Centre – which is for children with speech language and hearing disorders. The children there are deaf, or have have speech production and mobility disorders like Dillon; or are on the autistic spectrum; or have language and understanding difficulties.
Hayley's son, Dillon, goes there and we've seen first hand how amazing the school is and what a difference it can make to these children’s lives and those of their families. It’s very unique and combines the nursery with therapies to provide an individual support program for each child to help them with all of their needs: so speech, mobility and motor skills, behavioural/social difficulties etc.
Without an ability to communicate at an early age in life, these kids will struggle their whole lives – not just with speech but with their social communications, education, confidence and happiness.
The school offers a sponsorship fund and over 1/3 of the children who now attend are supported by this. It would be amazing if they can open up this opportunity for families even further.
Please try to help – we’ve really seen first hand over the past year how desperately there is a need for this school and what a lifeline it provides for these children.
