My story

"1500 miles, 3 Countries, 2 blokes, 1 banger....."

Hello from Me, and a Hello from Him

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Steve and Matt, have decided to take to the road in an old banger, across France, Spain and into Portugal all in the name of charity.

The car is a 1.5 diesel Pegeout 106 [kindly donated by  Jack Spake  cheers mate ]

We hope this little car, can get us from our base in Bracknell, all the way to finish line near Lisbon, Portugal.

All the outgoing costs, are being covered by myself and Matt, 1500 miles is a long way but we are confident we can make it.

We will be adding more pictures soon, including one of our chariot code named: 27

                                                            About us

Steve: - Most people know me as Barnsey, I'm the captain of the team and driver #1. I am hoping that by completing this we can raise awareness of the Gemin-i.org charity and the work it does, to help people across the globe and to also raise our target to ensure that the charity can complete its next project (see below) without too many problems.

Matt: Hey i'm Matt, i'm the back up driver and tag along! Although this is going to be awesome i really hope that the money we raise for charity helps out those less fortunate than ourselves (students aren't quite the bottom of the ladder although we are close!) Totally buzzing about this :)

Team M&S: - First of all, we know what your all thinking and NO we are in no way sponsored/affliated with the popular supermarket. The name comes from Matt and Steve (M&S) and our moto is: This is no ordinary banger, this is a Team M&S banger**

We are currently trying to work out, how to decorate the car, and wheter or not we will follow a particular theme.

Every donation we get, helps us achieve the £1000 target even quicker - remember no donation is too small for us!!

Why are we doing it, and what do Gemin-i do??

With the money raised by Sucata Run this year we (Gemin-i) are planning to run a project to raise awareness of Malaria. Students from over 100 schools around the globe will be able to explore the topic using the case study of Sierra Leone, where it is the biggest killer of children under five. They will explore the reasons why so many people still die from malaria and what is being done by humanitarian aid agencies to prevent this.

Through participation in this project, young people will be able to join the global effort against malaria. They will hear stories of how governments and aid organisations are fighting the disease, they will talk to other children in affected regions, and they will be given the opportunity to design their own awareness raising campaign on the theme of malaria prevention.

                                    Why we need your help?

Each £1000 raised by teams taking part in this event will pay for five schools to take part in the project. The more schools that we can involve, the bigger an impact we can have around the world.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Gemin-i.org gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
