My story

In late September a team of intrepid adventurers from EY London will be travelling to deepest darkest Borneo to perform a series of physical and mental challenges to raise money and awareness for the Prince's Trust. They will be known as Team Pongo...

pongo pygmaeus - orang utan - a large, long-armed anthropoid ape of arboreal habits, inhabiting Borneo and Sumatra: an endangered species.

Andy has overcome many great challenges in his life, including co habitation with a french girl, and saw a chance to aim, if possible, even higher.

Cat loves small furry animals and decided to take the chance to add some more to her collection with a visit to tropical Borneo.

Jae has long harboured a secret desire to shave his head and saw an event involving charity fund raising as an ideal opportunity to do this under the auspices of doing something productive with his life.

Karen lives to organise things and saw yet another opportunity to utilise her vast skills and expertise in this area whilst keeping an eye on Jae.

Rob decided that this sort of jaunt was all rather in keeping with having some sort of early mid life crisis.

Sarah was feeling jaded after living the glamorous London lifestyle for too much of her short life so went looking for some gratuitous hardship.

What we are doing

257 kilometres in seven days... from the summit of Mt Kinabalu, 4,101 metres above sea level, to the shores of the South China Sea.

Our aim is to raise £18,600 towards the Prince Trust by biking, trekking and rafting through mountains, jungle and rapids in Borneo's tropical climate.  Our target is to raise £12,600 by the beginning of July.

And finally,

why we are really doing it

The Prince's Trust (www.princes-trust.org.uk) helps change young lives.

Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year. The Prince's Trust gives practical and financial support to the young people who need it most. They need to raise £1m a week to continue giving this support so every little bit helps.
