Story
Our aim :-
To send two young people recovering from serious illness on an Ellen MacArthur adventure.
The 2800 mile European Charity Landy Rally starts in Calais passes through the Alps and Pyrenees before returning to the finish line in Calais. The challenge is to complete the distance, with both on and off road stages, in 7 days. This is a test of both the vehicle (a 1993 Discovery) and the driver/co-driver, With distances of up to 600 miles a day this is no Sunday afternoon drive. Beacuse of the distance involved there are many road miles but also included are some significant off-road challenges including the ski slopes at Val d'Isere and a trek though the "Dust bowl" in the Pyrenees. In previous years we have suffered serious oil leaks from the transfer gear box, broken brake pipe and needed emergency welding on the rear suspension - but have never failed to complete the rally.
