The Ellen MacArthur Trust
The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness.
Sailing is perfect for these children; it gives them a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Simply the experience of going out on the water for the first time is an adventure. Each child has the challenge of helping sail the yachts throughout the voyage and takes part in all aspects of the trip from sailing the yacht to the washing up!
The children come from all over the country, including Northern Ireland, London, Essex, Sheffield, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Nottingham & Ellen’s birthplace, Derbyshire.

Team Sylki RoadRunners are taking part in LandyRally 2008, a 2500 mile challenge covering 10 countries in 7 days. The route will include both on and off road sections including some Alpine ski slopes !! The team consists of :- Driver Keith Co-driver Sylvia There are two challenges in this event one being to complete the gruelling driving, up to 700 miles in a day, and also to raise a significant amount of money for the Ellen MacArthur Trust. Each £500 we raise will pay for another young person to experience a four day sailing adventure - what better way to help them gain confidence during their recovery from serious illness and have a terrific experience at the same time ?
