On 25 October, a team of 26 brave (or foolish some might say) individuals will take part in the London South Tough Mudder event in memory of our dear colleague James Levy and the hospital that meant a great deal to him - the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.

Those who knew James know he spent too much of his too short life at the Royal Brompton which provided him with excellent care. Here James felt secure, valued and developed fond relationships with many wonderful nurses and doctors.  Support for their future work will help provide other families and patients with similar care and support innovation in treatments.

As the idea to participate in Tough Mudder was initially suggested by the Lewis Silkin Sports Group, this year we are also supporting the Matt Hampson Foundation, which provides advice, support and relief and/or treatment to young people seriously injured through sport. Matt Hampson is a former England rugby player who has battled hard since being paralysed from the neck down in a training session to help those who have suffered similar catastrophic injuries.

The participants are: Ian Jeffery, Iain McDonald, Natasha Evans, Becky Oliver, Shalina Crossley, Andrew Osborne, Richard Berry, Poppy Willmott, Dominic Farnsworth, Nick Walker, Giles Crown, Abdi Alin, Stephen O'Flaherty, Scott Anderson, Scott Hollingsworth, Nigel Enticknap, Clare Tiernan, Susie Fyvie, Rachel Ward, Tarun Tawakley, Natalie Parkinson, Grainne Gleeson, Sarah O'Brien, Frances Pollitzer, Ash Rahmat and James Evans.
