We decided to support the East Anglian Air Ambulance, because their expertise and immediate response can save thousands of lives yearly in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
The charity was started after a fatal aircraft accident in 2000 with the help of the people of Norfolk. By July 2001 EAAA has operated 7 days a week with an average 4 mission a day. In June 2005 the fundraising effort made it possible to operate another aircraft.
Summary of the EAAA's routine:
- fly to patients within 25 minutes
- cruising at the speed of 135 knots
- last year alone flew 1670 missions
- each mission costs £2270
P.S.: They had 39 deployments between 1st and 14th of March 2014, with an average of 3 missions a day.
