I have obviously given this a great deal of thought as I am very attached to my hair!
The reasons for having my hair removed are threefold. Firstly to highlight the trauma that can occur due to cancer treatments. Secondly to raise awareness of the astounding work that hospices perform in the community and thirdly just how much money they need to raise daily!
The two hospice charities which are close to my heart are the Princess Alice in Esher which is where my mum died in 1999 and Phyllis Tuckwell in Farnham which has given such amazing support to many of our families at Clandon Wood. Between them they serve most of Surrey.
We probably all know someone who has benefited from some form of hospice care - so please, please give generously.
The third charity is little known - The Samson Centre is a rehab centre for MS sufferers and needs over £200K annually which has to be raised purely through voluntary donations.
Once you have donated, your money is sent directly to the charity. They will also make sure that an additional 25% Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.
