When Gerard was young, "autism" was a word not many people had heard of, and the condition was only just beginning to be recognised. Now, the "autistic spectrum" is widely recognised and researched but provision for the growing number of adults with autism is hard to find. We were very lucky to have a place for Gerard with Wirral Autistic Society, and we can only sing its praises for the genuine care he was given, with provision tailored to his needs.
