Hey all,
As most of you will know both Joe and myself have connections to Africa from our respective year outs. In 2010, I spent 6 months living in Tanzania where I volunteered in a secondary school teaching English. At the same time, Joe was coaching football in Botswana. Continued work in Africa is therefore something imporant to both of us. So we've decided to take on the challenge of doing the Bath Half Marathon on the 11th March, 2011 in aid of African Initiatives with the hope of your support.
African Initiatives is an organisation with the strong underlying ethos of community empowerment and social justice. The work they carry out is all about supporting communities to help them find their own solutions to the problem of poverty which they face every day. They also work with communities to advise them on how they can make their own voices heard, act against corruption and try to bring themselves above the poverty line. African Initiatives helps them to create sustainable livelihoods for themselves. The projects they currently have running are based in Ghana and Tanzania.
We are aiming to reach a target of £500 between us so please give generously and help us support this good cause. Every donation will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Tess and Joe
