THE14 MONTH PROJECT.

The project is a 14 month campaign to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease. During that time, our aim is to encourage and motivate family, friends and members of our local community to get involved, do something fun, challenging and entertaining, to ultimately change the lives of others.

14 MONTHS. A RACE AGAINST TIME

14 months is a poignant figure for Motor Neurone Disease. Until we find a cure, for someone diagnosed with the illness, it’s typically all the time they have left. Rather than give up, these people seem to grow stronger, determined to wring every jot out of life, for themselves and the people who love them. One such person is Patrick, the incurable optimist. Please visit his site to see what a truly brave, talented and inspirational man is capable of: http://patricktheoptimist.org/

14 CHALLENGES, 14 MONTHS

As part of the project, over the next 14 months we’re setting out to tackle a calendar of challenges to raise sponsorship for The Motor Neurone Disease Association and those people and their families affected by the illness. 12th November is the day of the first challenge, running 100km across Morocco with 24 others. It will be the equivalent of a half marathon, every day for four days, taking us across the desert, across palmaries, into the Atlas Mountains and ending with a run into Marrakech.

In December, myself and two other Dads from the local school, running under the Team name of the 14 Month Project will be taking part in the UK Grim Challenge: a gruelling 8miles over the Army’s Armoured Vehicle testing ground in Aldershot, Hampshire, consisting of mud, rocks, water-filed ravines and cargo net crawls.

Here are the first of the challenges. There are lots of gaps so we would really appreciate any ideas and events you may have to help us raise much needed funds for Motor Neurone Disease. The penny or pound that you raise or donate could be the one that stops this disease. Please join us. Time isn’t on our side.
