Hello!
It's nice to see that you've made your way to this page where you can sponsor THE 3 MENGINEERS to do LOST 2010 and raising money for SAHIR HOUSE in the mean time!
So...a little bit about the team name...there are three of us in the team, two medics and an engineer...so we thought we'd combine our undergraduate course titles to form The Mengineers!
Ah yes...a bit about LOST 2010, it is an event run by the Liverpool Guild of Students where we get dropped off 100 MILES away from Liverpool and have to find our way back WITHOUT using any money! I did LOST back in 2008, we got dropped off in Scotland and after over 12 hours of travelling through thick and thin we got back, it was a very emotionally and physically challenging time! Yet I'm back to do it again with a new team!
So down to the nitty gritty and why you're here on this page hopefully! Sponsorship can be as much as you like, any amount will be appreciated as it will help towards our £100 target, we reached it last year and hope to reach it again this year with your help! The charity we have chosen this year is Sahir House (http://www.sahir.uk.com/). Sahir House is a Multicultural Support and Information centre offering a wide range of services to individuals and families living with or affected by HIV on Merseyside.
Thank You Again for all your support!
UPDATE
We're finally back to Liverpool!! We were dropped off at the Angel Of The North in Gateshead, just South of Newcastle...the weather wasn't great, although the view of this magnificent sculpture was! Standing at 66ft tall and 172ft wide it was pretty awe-inspiring! Anyway...back to the day, we were looking for the nearest city to travel to, in hope of getting a free ride on public transport (train/coach/bus), but it wasn't for another 10 miles at least...so we started walking that direction and got escorted by the Police to Newcastle train station. They were very nice and keen to pick us up! After we got knock backed at the train station we went to get some free chips from a local chippy (who misunderstood us at first and tried to give us some spare change!), free Chicken Bake pasty from Greggs, free cake from a stall in Newcastle and a free sandwich from Starbucks. That was all we got free really...we tried for 5 hours in Newcastle, hitching by the Tyne bridge, trying to get on buses to Durham or Middlesborough but failling...it just wasn't our day...it was a long and tiring day...draining all our blagging charisma and energy...we finally gave up after all hope of getting back and took the minibus back to Liverpool arriving at 11pm! What a day!
It's been a really good experience going around Newcastle, I can safely say that I know Newcastle city centre quite well and which bus route to take to get to Durham and Middlesborough! We saw the Angel of the North and experienced a true geordie accent! Thanks to everyone who donated and sponsored us for this event...even though we failed, your efforts have succeeded in helping out Body Positive North West and Sahir House!
Thank You very much again,
The 3 Mengineers
