Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Once again on March 4th, 2015, the GVI team on Curieuse Island is organising a fundraising event to support the SSPCA (Seychelles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and all of the great things they do here in the Seychelles! In the past, teams have helped support the SSPCA and we hope this year we can make a difference by participating in The Amazing Curieuse Race

This year, teams will participate and fight to win the Amazing Curieuse Race, a spin-off of the famous TV show where teams race around the world completing different challenges! We will have 3 teams that will race around Curieuse Island and undertake different challenges that can either be mental or physical to win shells (the harder the challenge, the more shells you win). Teams then get a chance to "cash in" their shells at the end of the challenges during a pop quiz! The team that ends up with the most shells get a fantastic prize that everyone will be sure to envy them for!

Why the SSPCA?

The SSPCA aims to provide care and treatment to the population of stray, neglected, mistreated and abused animals in the Seychelles. It is currently the only organisation in place to deal with the Seychelles’ stray animal problem that poses a significant traffic hazard and has a negative impact on the image of the Seychelles as a tourist destination, an industry that represents 80% of its annual GDP. By tackling these issues head on and through preventative measures the SSPCA aims to make a lasting difference to the image of the Seychelles as a tourist destination.

The goal of the SSPCA is to prevent cruelty to animals in Seychelles and promote good welfare and responsible animal ownership. The SSPCA is aiming to raise funds for medical treatment, as well as to provide a centre where stray and neglected domestic animals can be treated, cared for and ultimately re-homed. This will be the first animal welfare centre of its kind in the Seychelles, and with your support these objectives can be realised. The SSPCA also focuses on education and preventative measures, teaching the local community how to care for these animals and the reasons behind such care.

Team Fundraising

As an incentive, there will be significant advantages in the game for the teams whose members have raised the most money, therefore giving those teams a big advantage in winning the game! We therefore would kindly ask that you sponsor those who you know, love, like, kinda like and are just OK with, and when you do, please write the name of the person in the 'Comments' section, so we know who to attribute the funds to and their team will be in with a much greater chance of winning. For more info on how the event will work and just general updates on the event, keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

The Teams:

If you would like to donate to the cause but not for a specific team, put Team Curieuse in the comment section!

Thank you for your support, and keep up to date how the teams do on our Twitter and Facebook pages!
