I am cycling 400km coast-to-coast across Sri Lanka between the 7th and 16th October 2005 to raise money for the International Childcare Trust which works with community development partner organisations in Sri Lanka, India, Kenya and Cambodia (more info at www.ict-uk.org).

It's a really worthwhile cause because the partner organisations - run by local people with local knowledge - target the most vulnerable children like orphans and street kids who have slipped through all the other nets. Many of the projects are day centres with outreach programmes, offering children a haven away from their difficult and hazardous lives with opportunities for training and skills-building to help them break out of the vicious circle. Some of the projects in Kenya and Sri Lanka work with children and their families displaced by ongoing conflict.

My target is to raise £3000 which is £500 more than the minimun sponsorship for the event. Please dig deep in to your pockets and find some of that loose change (ideally of the paper variety!) to help me reach my target. This site is totally secure.
