thecharitybikeride.co.uk is back!
On June 20, CBR co-founder Chris Allen and 2008 accomplice Sam Alderson will be setting off on their most ambitious journey yet, covering over 1600 miles in only 20 days.
That’s more than 80 miles a day!
As it is for Great Ormond Street Hospital, it is sure to be worth every mile.
At the turn of this year, the medical mates also found an unwitting third member.
Following a hazy – and somewhat regrettable - New Year’s Eve bet, rising comedy star and former nightclub disco dancer, Tommy Holgate, is tagging along. The joker seems to think it’ll be a doddle, but the other two know otherwise.
Tommy said: “I’ve made a few boozy promises in my time, but none of them have ended with me cycling to Morroco!
“It’s all for an amazing cause though, so every mile ridden, and pound raised, will mean the bet is worthwhile.”
The epic trek sees the boys bolt through the entire length of , before tackling the mountains of thePyrenees, and taking on ’s peak mid-summer heat.
After a short ferry across toNorth Africa, beckons.
Chris added: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to see the charity bike ride projects grow year-on-year, and this year is no exception. We already have loads of support and hope to build on that.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped so far, and many thanks in advance for those that intend to. It means so much.”
Why Great Ormond Street Hospital?
In summer 2006, CBR co-founder Hamish Maclachlan’s sister, Catherine underwent an incredible, life saving heart transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Without their amazing expertise and committed staff, coupled with the tremendous generosity of a grieving family; Catherine wouldn’t be have been able to make such a remarkable recovery. The same goes for the thousands of other children with complex, life threatening illnesses the hospital treats each year. But their facilities constantly need upgrading; a new cardiac theatre is essential to support the enormous advances made in this field.
We’ve raised over £20,000 since we began, and our target is to take that over £30,000 this year.
With your help we can reach this target!
