Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

For this year's adventures I will be walking 55 miles in March, as part of Manchester Rag's Bogle Walk; climbing the three highest peaks of the UK mainland in September; and then to top it all, I'll be running the Chicago Marathon in October. I am Very Excited about this all.

I initially wrote "Not quite as extreme as four marathons, but I guess it comes close I hope, enough for you generous people like yourself to sponsor me a little." However, looking at the distances of the Three Peaks: Ben Nevis 10.2 miles; Sca Fell Pike 8.8 miles; Snowdon 6.6 miles; the Bogle Walk 55 miles and the Chicago Marathon 26.2 miles, this makes a grand total of 106.8 miles. This is a full 2 miles more extreme than 4 marathons!

I even made the news! Twice! Thrice now, back in the Salsibury Journal.

UPDATE:

Challenge completed, new PB, did Chicago in 3:54:47. Fantastic!

That's 80.6 miles down, 26.2 to go. I haven't got an exact time for the Three Peaks as my phone took on water and packed up and I was using it as a stopwatch (but is working now). However, I succesfully completed the challenge in 23 and a half hours. It took me about 2 hours 30 to climb Ben Nevis, 3 hours for Sca Fell and 1 hour 45 for Snowdon.

First challenge complete! I did the Bogle walk in 23:27:39. It was my toughest challenge yet, as after 19 miles and for the first time in all my crazy adventures and the training with them, I got blisters. This meant I had to alter how I walked to reduce the pain, which shortened my stride, and wasn't so good on my calf muscles. Messages of support from friends and family, and sheer determination got me through. Great sense of achievement!

I'm paying for all the costs of these, so every single penny you donate will go towards the Meningitis Trust's work:

In the UKalone, there are over 500,000 people who have had meningitis. Over the years, thousands of families have had to face a future without a loved one and 1 in 4 adults in the today know of someone who has had meningitis. Those who have survived are left coping with debilitating after effects including deafness, blindness, limb loss, learning difficulties, memory issues and behavioural problems – any of which can lead to enforced lifestyle changes and relationship issues. The impact is life-changing for those directly affected and their family and friends - whatever outcome the disease leaves behind. Meningitis will never go away and so neither will we.

Our Vision is for all communities to be aware of the threat and impact of meningitis and for anyone affected to have access to quality care and support for as long as they need it.

Our Mission is to reduce the devastating impact of meningitis by:

·          raising awareness of the disease with health professionals and the general public – prompt action can save a life or reduce the likelihood of after-effects

·          providing the professional services and support to everyone affected for as long as they need it – helping people to rebuild their lives

·          empowering other people and organisations by working together - improving aftercare for people affected by meningitis in the and beyond

·          continuing to be the leading authority on the after-effects and aftercare of meningitis - fighting for those who need support for life

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Meningitis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
