My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

I was diagnosed with leukaemia in September 2009 and since then my brother Chris has run the marathon twice, raising over £18,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust.  This outstanding charity matched me to a stem cell donor, giving me another chance at life.

So, once more to the breach for Chris, and now, I will be walking the course, with the help of my wife Rosie.  And we'd love your support.  We want to raise a massive amount in these straitened times, but with your help, we can make sure more lives are saved.

So why are we doing it?

Because someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer every 23 minutes

Because only half the people that need a life saving transplant can be matched to a bone marrow donor

Because with our help Anthony Nolan can match everyone in need

Because we want to inspire other leukaemia and cancer sufferers and show them there is hope and a future.

Because we want to commemorate the friends who didn't make it.

Because we all want more sufferers to survive and thrive

It costs Anthony Nolan roughly £100 to process each new volunteer to the register, so we're hoping to fund more than 600 new potential donors.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please donate now - it doesn't matter how much you can afford, we'd love you to be part of this

Great effort - Hippocrates once said walking is man's best medicine, tho I prefer the Chinese proverb "one step at a time is good walking" myself...!
