Batman: “Holy cow Robin, we better get over and see what the crazed maniac is meddling with. To the Batmobile..!”
Robin: “Erm, sorry Batman, due to the scandalous selling of toxic assets by those no good American investment banks, you lost all of your wealth. Alfred had to sell the Batmobile just to pay the heating bills.”
Batman: “Holy credit crunch Robin..!!”
Robin: “It’s ok Batman, I’ve managed to secure a new ride – I give you… the Bat-Saab 9000 CSE Turbo. It’s pushing 190 bhp, and it’s pretty fly. But we need to raise some funds, don’t forget that at the Gotham City fundraising ball last week, when you got drunk you promised to give £1000 to the kids in Africa to help them to read good.”
Batman: “Gosh Robin, I always do stuff like that. Let’s get this money-raising show on the road….”
Meanwhile, in Oxford, in the real world… Gareth, Luke and Rob are raising money for Gemin-I by taking part in the Sucata Run car rally across Europe this summer. We would really appreciate your support to raise the £1000 that we would like to give to the charity. We are paying all the expenses ourselves, so you can be assured that all of your generous donations will go directly to this great cause.
The rally starts in Rouen in Normandy, and finishes at the most western point in Europe, in Cabo da Roca, Portugal. After much deliberation we have decided to go for a Batman theme, by tastefully modifying our Saab, and wearing fairly ridiculous costumes. Oh yes, the photos will be worth seeing. The car that we have purchased has already covered 227,000 miles, and only needs to cover another 1600 more.
