Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I've entered the 'P' Company Challenge of the Paras 10 - http://www.paras10.com/. The official website sums it up better than I can: "The Parachute Regiment challenges you to attempt the 10 Mile 'P' Company Cross Country Route, carrying a bergen (rucksack) weighing 35lb (excluding food water) and wearing military style boots. Competitors rucksacks will be weighed before and after the race, by race officials. The P Company Challenge is open to individuals and teams of 4 (With the first 3 runners to count). As a guide the Paratroopers Company Selection cut off time is 1 hr 50 minutes."
Although I've got a history of running, for about the last 18 months I've had some injury problems which has really cut down on the running I've done. I'm over them now, and this is a great incentive for me to get back into shape. I don't really have any doubt I'll finish the course, but I'm aiming to come in under the 1'50 time referred to above. About the Airborne Forces Charities Traffic wardens earn more than a private in the Parachute Regiment. And they don't get shot at. Many members of the Parachute Regiment have suffered physical and mental injuries since the inception of this brave and distinguished fighting force. The number of soldiers requiring help and support has increased dramatically since the Parachute Regiment was ordered to fight in such places as The Falklands, Northern Ireland, Iraq, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan and many other of the world's hotspots. Their achievements have been magnificent, however the cost has been equally challenging. These men need your help.If you are prepared to help the heroes of The Parachute Regiment then any donation however small will be gratefully received. So please sponsor me now!
