We raise money for Royal Brompton Hospital to help care for seriously ill children.

Story

My son Finley was born in July 2012 with a congenital heart problem called Aortic Stenosis, which is a narrowing of the aortic valve in his heart. In December 2012, Finley had  to have a procedure to widen this valve. On the 21st June, as a way of saying a massive thank you, myself and my friend Rob Eggers will be running ‘The Picnic’ marathon to raise money for the Brompton Fountain Charity

The charity supports families whose children are under treatment for life threatening heart & lung conditions at the Royal Brompton & Harefield hospital, which is the largest specialist heart & lung centre in the UK. The charity helps in many ways, including; providing information, putting people in touch with others in similar situations, holding fun and social events, improving the physical facilities and environment families have access to while in hospital

The Picnic, which was originally going to be called ‘The Crippler’, is an ultra-tough trail marathon set in the picturesque area of Box Hill. With height gain/loss of 6000 feet it is widely regarded as the hardest marathon in the country. Please note that after much deliberation, I have come to the decision that it is unlikely that I will be running the entire course. Due to my family commitments, it has been extremely difficult to find the necessary time in order to train for such a brutal event. This was an extremely hard decision for me to make as I have been dedicated to raising money for the charity for some time now. Rest assured that I will be running with Rob for as far as my little legs will carry me.
