My story

***Update, As many of you are aware, once I arrived in San Fran, the most random thing happened to me. I got married to an America girl.

I am continuing this adventure, but now i'm circumnavigating the USA with my wife. Hopefully ended up where I started, at my new home - New York City. The second part of this adventure i'll be joined with my awesome wife, Julie. ****

Hello my Random Chums

On May 4th, 2011 I shall be leaving the U.K and head to the USA for an adventure of a lifetime. The plan is to get from New York to Seattle, solo on a bicycle. THAT'S RIGHT, you heard me, I'm going to cycle across America..... The land of the free... errr, yes.

From Seattle, I have no plans or a time frame, just the sprit of adventure which I hope will keep me going all the way around the world until I find my way home..... The random way home.

I've worked out with the money i'm taking, if I'm careful I should be able to last a couple of years on the road. This time, I shall try my hand at vlogging (Video Blogging). Don't worry, I shall also be taking my camera to carry on my love of documentary and travel photography.

I thought with all this time off, I should do something to help others. I have chosen Dyslexia Action as the main charity for this adventure. Having suffered from dyslexia all my life and knowing how frustrating it can be, especially when you're a child or a teenager trying to hide it from everyone. I'm sure if I had help from an organization such as Dyslexia Action when I was at school it would have made things far easier for me.

Dyslexia is so misunderstood, people have the idea your are either lazy, stupid or thick, which is certain not the case, I've achieve many great things in my life.
Many dyslexic people excel and shine in such fields as the arts, creativity, design and computing. And let's not forget Television & Radio ;-)

It’s ME!, where ME stands for My Education, is a Dyslexia Action appeal to raise awareness of hidden disabilities such as dyslexia. It aims to help 2,500 more people with dyslexia by raising £2 million by 2014 for the It’s ME! Learning Fund. Dyslexia Action is a national charity that improves lives through education and, with your help, we can stop hidden disabilities from being a hidden cause.

The It's ME! Learning Fund (previous Bursary Fund) is the only national provision of subsidised specialist teaching for those who are unable to access this support because of financial or social exclusion.  Through the Learning Fund, Dyslexia Action are currently only able to help 1 in every 3 people who apply for support and with 96% of our learners demonstrated an improved score in at least 1 of the 4 areas they were taught in, over the past 12 months, we know what a real difference this help will make on the life of children, young people and adults with dyslexia.

I am funding this trip entirely out of my own pocket or until I can get some sponsors onboard. All the money raised will go directly to Dyslexia Action.

So please give to this awesome cause, and help some of the 6 million people in the UK that are affected by dyslexia, and maybe we can change the some peoples futures of forever.
