It's a reference to our feet, the 'quattro formaggio' thing. You know, like the pizza: cheesy. We'll be walking 100km in 30 hours over the 17th and 18th of July, so you can see how that might turn out in the foot department.
We like to use cars a lot in this country, along with buses, trains, and even planes. We rather take these conveniences for granted (well, we cheeses do anyway), and it turns out that there are plenty of people in the world who actually can't take a car, train, bus, or whatever, mainly because there aren't any. Maybe a bicycle, if they're lucky.
That's why we're embarking on this little project. Raising money for Oxfam might actually mean that some people can have a bicycle (or some other kind of life-changing help), and if you're a midwife in rural Africa, for example, that bicycle actually comes in pretty handy.
It's not only Oxfam who benefits: Trailwalker raises money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust. Gurkhas look after our security, and our interests, but need support in return when they leave the Army and return to Nepal. They'll also be looking after us on our walk, which is even more reason to give and support them.
So if you're either (1) amused by the prospect of us walking non-stop for a whole weekend, (2) thinking that helping Oxfam to help people in need might be rather a good thing, or (3) you think the Gurkha Welfare Trust is a worthy cause, then please do make a contribution.
