I did it! Read my full marathon report here or check out my facebook profile for the photo album! Thanks for all of the support. It's not too late to donate if you haven't done so already, every penny counts :-)

Update 02/09/09: Only a couple of days to go! I am flying up to Scotland early Saturday morning in preparation for the big event. I get butterflies in my stomach whenever I think about it. I'm spending these last few days "carbing up" which involves me eating as much pasta, rice, pulses and potatoes as possible in order to build up my energy reserves

All of your wonderful donations have really encouraged me so it is just a case of getting across that finish line, hopefully, in under 5 hours :-)

Mid-Training Update: Check out the training video of me running the 13 miles at Pitsford Reservoir. Not long to go now, exciting and sickening at the same time!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have challenged myself to take part in my first marathon. I was too late for London so instead I am going to be travelling up to Scotland in October to run 26.2 miles around Loch Ness!

This is going to be quite a challenge for me as the most I have run is a half marathon (13.1 miles). I will be training throughout the summer, building up to running an average of 40 miles a week.

I am raising money for a local hospice that helps the victims of cancer and their families.

You can find out more info about the marathon at lochnessmarathon.com
I will be blogging about my progress at my Space and also updating my Facebook

Wish me luck and any donations (no matter how small) will be very gratefully appreciated

How will your donation help Lakelands Hospice?
Lakelands provides specialist palliative care to people with cancer and advanced heart failure. The hospice receives no Government funding and relies solely on charitable donations such as all the sponsorship money I am trying to raise. The money will help nurse non-terminal patients  back to health and help them get their lives back on track e.g. back into work, family support, long term care plan if needed etc. They also plan to extend their services to provide Hospice care within someone's home during the night - 60% of people would like to die of be cared for at home and there are simple not the resources to do this.  Marie Curie are over stretched and 75% of people ending up dying in hospital against their wishes.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Corby And District Cancer Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
