You're never too old to take part in a triathlon.
At the grand old age of 66 I took part in last Sunday's fantastic Darlington Triathlon. With my two sons Ben and David we entered as a team calling ourselves The Three Kings. David did the swimming, Ben the cycling and I finished off with the running. We managed to complete the course in 1 hour 33 minutes 30 seconds finishing a respectable 106th out of 144. Not too bad for a set of first-timers containing an "oldie". The picture opposite shows the three of us basking in post run euphoria, or is it just relief at having finished?
Apart from the fun of taking part in an event alongside such a great group of athletes we were trying to raise money for some local charities supported by Darlington Rotary Club.
If you think we did OK and would like to sponsor us it's not too late. We would appreciate any contribution, no matter how great or small, as every £ counts in the current financial climate.
Making a donation through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also very efficient as the charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for taking the trouble to read this and hopefully to support us.
