Three highest mountains, in three lands, in three days

In January 2009 I was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia. I had to undergo intensive chemotherapy treatment over a period of 6 months and needing probably about the same period to recover. I'm still recovering! Yet, I am glad to say I am making pretty good progress, having gone into remission during the first stages of treatment. I couldn't have done it without the unconditional love and support my family and friends have given me. But I also owe so much to the fantastic nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and other staff at the Centre for Clinical Haematology at Nottingham City Hospital. My experience has changed me as a person dramatically. Some things I can't do anymore but there are new things I have found. It has also opened my eyes to the real need for excellent health care professionals who have the knowledge and skills to make sure people like me receive the right care, support and medical treatment. Most of all, for myself and my close family and friends, this has left a deep desire to do something more in return!
So we have chosen the Geoff Thomas Foundation as our charity. The Foundation focuses on making sure that all patients with leukaemia and other blood cancers have access to potential cures by 2015. The foundation links with 5 centres in the UK, of which Nottingham is one.
Keith Bird (my best friend since I was at school!), my family and I have set up an event to raise money for the Geoff Thomas Foundation. For 'Three Peaks In Time-A Walk to Save Lives' we will attempt to walk up Scafell Pike, Snowdon, and Ben Nevis in 3 Days! We aim to do this on the 9th, 10th and 11th of June 2010.
