Thanks All!
Matt and I shall be taking part in this years Mongol Rally on 24 July. Together with 300 other teams we set off on a totally unsupported 10,000 mile adventure rally, in cars of no more than 1.2 litres, to Ulaan Baatar the capital of Mongolia. Competitors can choose whatever route they please, there are no geographical restrictions.
If things go wrong and the car becomes unfixable it is entirely down to the team members to make their way to safety no matter how remote or hostile the location. Our route takes us through England, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and finally 1,000 miles across the unrelenting terrain of Mongolia.
As I’m sure you can imagine the idea is not about winning but choosing a route that provides an adventurous and cultural challenge in a vehicle that is completely unsuitable for the task. Last year 78 teams failed to finish, of which 13 were classed as Missing In Action.
In order to take part in the rally we need to raise a minimum of £1,000 for Mercy Corps, but obviously we would love to raise loads more than that in total, and this is where you lovely people reading this come in…Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Mercy Corps works amid disasters, conflicts, chronic poverty and instability to unleash the potential of people who can win against nearly impossible odds. Since 1979, Mercy Corps has provided $1.5 billion in assistance to people in 106 nations. Mercy Corps has been involved in Mongolia since 1999 and provides Economic development for rural businesses, veterinary and other support to traditional herders, support to local organisations and access to commercial financial services. You can find more information on Mercy Corps here.If you would like to sponsor us in our efforts then we would greatly appreciate any amount you can give!
Donating online is quick and easy and only takes a couple of minutes. You can also donate to us in person if you prefer dealing in cold hard cash or don’t like all this online malarkey!

Thanking you in anticipation!
