Hello! I, Matthew Pryor, am running the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon in aid of the Scoliosis Association UK (SAUK). Scoliosis is a twisting and curving of the spine that can happen for many reasons. There is no cure for scoliosis, only corrective treatment for the twisting and curving spine. SAUK is the only independent support group for Scoliosis in the . I discovered the great work that SAUK do through Ruby, my daughter, who has a congenital scoliosis. You can find out more about SAUK and Scoliosis at http://www.sauk.org.uk/. You can also sponsor me online at www.justgiving.com/thunderthighspryor/.
To make this sponsored run more interesting, I will be going head to head with a colleague, Liam McGranagan, for title of Mr (unofficial) Half Marathon of Glasgow 2009. We will be racing each other for the fastest race time, with no collusion over race rigging.
When you sponsor me, you can also enter your guess on the difference in race times between myself and Liam in minutes and seconds. To spare either of us humiliation (me!) you don’t even need to say who will finish first, just how far ahead one is of the other. Some of you may not be very familiar with either of our running abilities, so there are photos of us above to help you make your decision. You might like to know that neither myself nor Liam have ever run a half marathon before and with four weeks to go Liam has done more training than I have.
Simple?
The entered time that is closest to the actual race time difference between Liam and myself will win a star prize (well a prize at any rate).
Thank you so much for your kindness and your support is really appreciated
P.s. If you are kicking around city centre on Sunday 6th September, why not come along and see how we get on? The race starts at 10.30am at and finishes at Glasgow Green. I’m not running in costume (yet) but I am open to suggestions…
