At TikkunTrek, we think that its really important to do more than just talk about our Jewish values - it is a Jewish imperative to act to make a difference as well. So every year we put our values into action by raising money for two charities, Tzedek, who co-founded Trek, and environmental charity. This year its the New Israel Fund:

As well as people getting sponsored to do the Trek, we are also holidng a fundraising party in London on Wednesday 13th August 2008, from 8pm at the Chapel Bar, http://www.thechapelbar.co.uk/ with top DJs and your chance to meet plenty of the Trek team. Suggested minimal donation of £6 or more for the party and £8 on the door.

Tzedek are a Jewish overseas development charity working with some of the poorest communities in the world. This year any money donated to Tzedek will go to a Tzedek partner project in Tamale, Northern Ghana that provides after school classes in essential skills, reading and writing for children that would otherwise not have access to these opportunities.

New Israel Fund (NIF) is a charity that works for equality and social justice for all people living in.  This year, any money that is donated to NIF will go towards raising awareness among people about environmental pollution and degradation, and promoting environmental activism in
