The Salvation Army is a Christian Church & registered Charity working in 130 countries worldwide and is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social welfare in the world. In the UK and Republic of Ireland this work includes more than 800 Salvation Army social service centres and Community churches. We provide unconditional friendship, support and very practical help to people in crisis and need and work with children, homeless people, all adult victims of modern slavery and those dealing with drug and/or alcohol addiction. Alongside our work in the UK, The Salvation Army International Projects Office works with communities around the world to support and empower them to defeat poverty and injustice. Our development projects are created and implemented in partnership with communities to enable them to build a better life and future for themselves. The Salvation Army is a Christian Church & registered Charity in England (214779), Wales (214779), Scotland (SC009359) and the Republic of Ireland (CHY6399)

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've now run the half marathon and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I did it in 1hr and 55 mins.

Although the race is now completed I will still be keeping this page open for a few weeks incase you would like to contribute towards two wonderful causes. The money that I raise will go to the following:

1. The Salvation Army's Earthquake response in Haiti.
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The Army is on the front line of the relief work taking place. It has a large presence in the country with over 60 community/corps centres, 50 schools (including 400 teachers and 10,000 pupils), and a number of health clinics and social centres.

2. The Salvation Army in Gibbonsdown, South Wales.
My wife and I lead the Salvation Army's work in the local community of Gibbonsdown in Barry. This includes a parent and toddler group, kids and youth clubs, spiritual ministry, social action projects and work with the elderly and families.

Thank you for your support. I've been humbled and encouraged by it many times over.
